Repayment Options

Forbearance may be available for the following circumstances. Additional eligibility criteria and requirements may apply. Contact Us to determine if you are eligible.

  • Hardship Forbearance – If your annualized earned income is either:

    • Below your annualized income earned in the taxable year immediately preceding enrollment in your approved program. OR

    • Less than the Income Threshold as defined in your Agreement. You may find the Income Threshold through the Contact Us page in section How Can We Assist You? under the topic of Income Threshold.

    You may qualify for Hardship Forbearance. Supporting documentation is required.

  • Discretionary Forbearance – If you experience a family emergency, unexpected expense, or other unplanned event resulting in financial hardship and inability to make monthly payments you may qualify for Discretionary Forbearance.

  • Disaster Forbearance – In the event you are affected by a Local or National Disaster and your zip code of residence or employment is declared as an Individual Assistance zone by FEMA or you are impacted by a Local or National Emergency as declared by local, state, or federal government you may qualify for Disaster Forbearance.
